Code of Practice

In accordance with section 157(5) of the Criminal Justice (Forensic Evidence and DNA Database System) Act 2014 a code of practice has been prepared by the Irish Youth Justice Service in consultation with the Director of Forensic Science Ireland.  The code of practice provides practical guidance as to the procedures regarding the taking of DNA samples from children by authorised members of the staff of the children detention schools in accordance with the provisions of the Act.
